The 1st Prize winner for this competition will receive a 17 string lap harp! Try out some basic early tunes and techniques with this beautiful little lap/knee harp! This can be used in a classroom setting, for music therapy or even just as an incredible ornament. For those of you already playing the harp this is a very portable little instrument for taking on holiday to keep your hand in on or for keeping beside your pedal harp at events ready for little children to try!

This is a 17 string/note diatonic instrument without levers so it is not suitable for beginners studying for exams or long term progression – but it is a great way to try out the instrument, technique and basic tunes! Whilst this is not a harp that will take you to the Albert Hall, it might just awaken the harpist within you!

2nd and 3rd prize winners will receive a copy of Shelley’s latest CD launching in 2015 – ‘The Three Strands; Passion, Sorrow and Joy’.

Summer 2015 Wedding Harpist

Wedding harpist playing outside!

Wedding Harpist Playing Outside

The sun has been shining beautifully here in Cardiff and I have enjoyed  being the wedding harpist at the first few outdoor weddings of the year! It is always so wonderful to play the harp outside for wedding ceremonies and drinks receptions – I now even bring along my very own parasol so the harp can be positioned anywhere outside without having to worry about find a suitable spot of shade!

Another trick I have found is invaluable for playing outside is that I have a wireless pick up system for my harp, a brilliant AER amplifier and a battery pack – so I can hide a speaker out of sight and make the harp sound carry beautifully in a wide outside space . So even if you are all over the place having photos you will still be able to hear and enjoy the harp music you have chosen for your Wedding Day!
